Arambula, Jose Doroteo Arango

An equestrian statue of Villa by Julian Martinez, presented in 1981 by the Mexican President Lopez Portillo to the people of Arizona, generated heated discussions. In the US, Villa is seen more as a bandit and less as the revolutionary hero he is considered in Mexico. The statue was rejected by Phoenix (Arizona) and established in Tucson (Arizona), having survived two lawsuits, attempting to stop its erection.
