Lionfighter

In front of the National museum in Berlin is, next to the Mounted Amazon Attacked by a Panther, another dramatic and magnificent bronze sculpture: Man Fighting a Lion. The sculpture depicts a man seated on a rearing horse with a roaring lion lying just beneath the horse, reaching up and clawing the front flank of the horse. Replicas cast from these sculptures were installed at the entrance of the Philadelphia Art Museum in 1929.
