(1887 –1937) an Armenian born in Iran, was a Soviet military commander of the Russian Civil War and Polish-Soviet War. Bzhishkyan was shot during the Great Purge in 1937 and his books were declared politically harmful and banned. After Stalin’s death, he was rehabilitated in 1956.
