(1879–1915) was a Bengali revolutionary philosopher, working against British rule, and the principal leader of the Yugantar party, the central association of revolutionaries in Bengal. He was responsible for the planned German Plot during the First World War. Jatin expressed his ideals in simple words: ‘We shall die to awaken the nation’. He died in open warfare in 1915. Gandhi characterized Jatin in 1925 as ‘a divine personality’.
