Khair, Abul

(1693–1748), was a leader of the Kazakh Little jüz, who defeated Dzungar forces. In order to obtain Russian assistance against the Dzungars, in 1731 Abul Khair Khan took an oath of allegiance to the Russian crown. He subsequently attempted to limit and control the amount of Russian influence exercised over the Kazakh Little jüz.
