Lasalle, Antoine de

(1775-1809), known as ‘The Hussar General’ was a French cavalry general during the Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars. Having a premonition that he would be killed in action the next day, Lasalle wrote to his wife on the evening before: “My heart belongs to you, my blood to the Emperor, my life to honor”.
