(1915–1947) was a revolutionary, and is considered the father of modern-day Burma. He was the founder of the Communist Party of Burma and was responsible for bringing about Burmese independence from British colonial rule. He was assassinated six months before independence. His daughter, Aung San Suu Kyi, is a Burmese politician and the recipient of a Nobel Peace Prize.
