(1919–1974) was the twenty-fifth and last Maharaja of the princely state of Mysore, from 1940 to 1950. He was a noted philosopher, musicologist, political thinker and philanthropist, and the founder-president of Vishva Hindu Parishad (the World Hindu Council). He ascended the throne of the Kingdom of Mysore in 1940 and signed the Instrument of Accession to the Dominion of India on the eve of India gaining independence in 1947, becoming the first governor of Mysore State.

An attractive statue of Wodeyar stands in Bangalore. It is slender and beautiful in its details, but as the pictures show, it urgently needs maintenance.
