Luther lived for about six months in the Coburg veste The sculpture ‘Licht und Kraft’ symbolises the bringer of light and was erected on the occasion of the 400th anniversary of the publication of Luthers 95 theses by nailing these to the door of All Saints Church in Wittenberg. At least, that is the story. The story of the posting on the door, even though it has settled as one of the pillars of history, has little foundation in truth
Fact is that Luther wrote in 1517 to his bishop, Albrecht von Brandenburg, protesting against the sale of indulgences. He enclosed in his letter a copy of his “Disputation of Martin Luther on the Power and Efficacy of Indulgences”, which came to be known as the Ninety-five Theses. - Sculptor(s):Klett, Hans
(1876 – 1930) was a German sculptor
