Description:
Thomas Masaryk was the first president of Czechoslovakia. Shortly after his death, it was decided to erect an equestrian statue of him in Lany, where he spent most of his time after leaving office in 1935. Due to subsequent political developments, it was only in 2010 that the statue was made. Twice, in 1951 and 1968, the communists confiscated the funds collected for the statue. Masaryk was a brave man, but not a warrior. He was primarily an intellectual and a thinker. Masaryk loved riding and is portrayed on a relaxed horse, grazing calmly.
