(1823–1868), better known as Prince Michael, was Prince of Serbia from 1839 to 1842 and again from 1860 to 1868. His first reign ended when he was deposed, and his second when he was assassinated. The statue to him in Belgrade was erected to commemorate his most important achievement: the complete expulsion of the Turks from Serbia.
