Morelos y Pavon, José Maria Teclo

(1765-1815), a Mexican Roman Catholic priest, was a revolutionary rebel leader of the Mexican War of Independence movement. He assumed its leadership after the execution of Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla in 1811. The Spanish colonial authorities captured and executed him for treason in 1815.
