Morelos y Pavon, José Maria Teclo

1765-1815. Siervo de la Nacion. A fighter for the independence of Mexico, who gave the people military victories and their first constitution. His deeds live today in the continued inspired efforts in behalf of the highest ideals of his country. This monument to Jose Maria Morelos y Pavon, hero of Mexican independence, was donated to the City of Los Angeles by Lic. Jose Lopez Portillo President of the United States of Mexico in 1981.
