As far as I could sort out, with the help of a Chilean art connoisseur, there are seven equestrian statues of the national hero Bernardo O’Higgins, based upon the equestrian statue created by the sculptor José Caroca Laflor. We could distinguish three formats. One of O’Higgins without a cape (in Chillán, Temuco and Los Angeles) and four with a cape, in Arica and Iquique and, with a slightly different cape in Talca and Antofagasta. As I came to know only the year of inauguration of the statues in Chillán, Temuco, Antofagasta and Los Angeles, I had to guess which statues were the originals and which are copies.
Original in Chillán
