(1814-1870), military and politician took also part in the operations against the Carlists as well as in the preparation for the uprising in Cadiz in 1868 that laid the foundation for the Spanish Revolution of 1868–1874. During the revolution, he advocated a constitutional monarchy. Prim became prime minister in 1869. He supported the election to the Spanish throne of Amadeo of Savoy. On the day of Amadeo’s arrival in Spain, Prim was assassinated.

Description:
A statue of Prim y Prats by Lluis Puiggener (1891) stands in his birthplace of Reus. The statue by the same sculptor (1887) in Barcelona was destroyed during the Civil War (1936–1939). Frederic Marès made a new copy in 1948.
