Savelli, Paolo

The painted wooden sculpture of a Roman prince and commander of the Venetian troops, Paolo Savelli, in the Basilica dei Frari is the oldest equestrian sculpture of Venice. Savelli died in 1405, as the result of a plague during a siege.
