Francisco Solano Lopez

(1827–1870) was president of Paraguay from 1862 until his death. He was the eldest son of President Carlos Antonio López, who bequeathed him a prosperous nation. Solano López is widely regarded as being responsible for the disastrous War of the Triple Alliance, which also led to his death.
