Taymanuli, Isatay

(1791–1838) was a leader of a rebellion in the nineteenth century against Zhangir-Kerey Khan and the Russian rulers of Kazakhstan. The colonization of Kazakhstan by Russia was slowed down by numerous uprisings and wars in 19th century. Isatay was killed by decapitation in a sword fight against seven Russian Cossack soldiers.
