(1833–1913), First Viscount of Wolseley, was an Anglo-Irish officer in the British Army. His reputation for efficiency led to the late nineteenth-century English phrase ‘everything’s all Sir Garnet’, meaning ‘all is in order’. He was promoted to Field Marshal in 1894.

Description:
His equestrian statue was cast from the metal of guns taken in his campaigns and stands in Horse Guards Parade in London. Lady Wolseley, who preferred that her husband be shown in full Field Marshal’s attire, rejected the suggestion that he should wear ‘the kind of garb he wore, say, during the Egyptian Campaign, or some active service kit’.
