(c.1545–1605) served under Oda Nobunaga until his death in 1582 and stayed on as a vassal under Toyotomi Hideyoshi. In 1600, he supported Tokugawa Ieyasu in the Battle of Sekigahara, leading more than 2,000 men, and capturing Gifu Castle.

Description:
The equestrian statue of Yamanouchi Katsutoyo stands in front of Kōchi Castle, built by him. In the grounds of this castle there is also a charming sculpture of his wife (Yamaouchi Chiyo), with the horse she gave to her husband.
